  • Adam Brown is a music educator originally from Cincinnati, Ohio.  He received both music performance and academic scholarships to attend the prestigious University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, where he earned his Bachelor in Music Education degree (Cum Laude).  While a student at UNT, he participated in many musical ensembles including the concert band, brass band, men's choir, marching band, classical percussion ensemble, steel drum band, and the 2000 PASIC World Champion indoor drumline.  In 2002, he was one of 25 percussionists worldwide selected to receive an Avedis Zildjian Cymbal Company International Scholarship.  Upon graduating, Brown returned to the Cincinnati area where he taught percussion, band, marching band, drumline, percussion ensemble, jazz band, guitar, and choir.  In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he was responsible for creating original curricula for several of the programs at the high school level.  Brown went on to earn a Master of Science in Education degree (Summa Cum Laude), specializing in the area of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.  In 2008, Brown began working for Royal Caribbean International in the role of drummer and Musical Director.  He worked on several ships in their fleet, performing in nearly seventy countries on six continents and met his wife, Cebuana vocalist Anna Fegi.  While working onboard, Brown wrote an original textbook Fundamentals of Reading Music, which became the basis for the teaching style the BAM Method.

Brown Academy of Music, BAM, a performing arts school based in Cebu, Philippines, was born of the desire of Adam and Anna’s to teach music with their combined experience.  During the planning of BAM, Anna had already released two solo albums under the Sony/BMG record label, performed as a regular member of the hit ABS-CBN show ASAP, and performed worldwide in numerous performances, ranging from headliner shows to musical theater productions.

After their work onboard cruise ships, Anna and Adam moved back to Cebu to scout locations, find teachers, write curriculum, and finally build their dream into reality.  Every teacher at BAM underwent a rigorous training program including the BAM Method, musicianship, lesson planning, and team building.  Each of the lessons is uniquely tailored in a combination with Adam and the teaching department.  BAM has been outfitted with instruments of international brands including a Drum Workshop Collector’s Series drum set, Zildjian K Custom cymbals, Sennheiser wired and wireless microphones, and Roland electronic keyboards, including an RD-700.  The facility includes 10 teaching classrooms and a rehearsal studio.  Classes offered include voice, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, drums, violin, Aria Music (children's music classes), and dance as well as songwriting courses.

Since opening in January 2016, the school has expanded twice in order to keep up with the demand of the growing enrollment.  The school originally opened with 5 teaching rooms and one small rehearsal studio.  In June 2016, the school underwent its first expansion by adding 3 new teaching rooms, a larger rehearsal studio, and additional waiting space for students and parents.  In January 2018, the school once again expanded by adding 2 more teaching rooms, a new office, a dining area for the faculty members as well as expanding both the rehearsal studio and the student and parent waiting areas.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality music education, based upon the fundamentals of music.  Students will find their own voice, whether it is as a vocalist, instrument, or dance student.  Brown Academy of Music will nurture the creativity and artistry of all students and teachers and will provide venues to showcase their talents.

Our vision is to create a world-hub of music education that enhances the music and arts community of Cebu and elevates the local community on the national level.
